Google Maps creates a system to report emergencies

The service allows you to see where there are situations that can cause public warning. Google Maps on the interface reflects the places where that is taking placea serious fire, or where there has been an earthquake or if you anticipate the arrival of a hurricane.

The new Google Public Alerts functionality aims to provide information on a map of emergency situations that are occurring as well as give some details about what happens.

For information on the alerts that are in a given region the user only has to perform a search in Google Maps. In the official blog of the platform is illustrated with a simple example.

When writing 'flood Indian' (Indian floods) are among the sites in the area that meetthose terms, a link that says "flood alert".
By clicking on the link you can get more detailed information about the event, about what has occurred, the current situation and forecasts, if any.

The new feature is available not only for America, although most of the warnings are there. On the page where you can see all the threats right now, it appears that there is a notice in Greece and two in the Pacific.

The information in the service depends on their integration with local organizations that can provide data on the contingencies in their region.

  1. Google maps just keeps getting better and better. Amazing how they took just a regular map basis, and put layers of information on it.Can't wait to see what's next from Google maps :-)

  2. Yes this is a pretty solid step for Google Maps. I'm not sure how much use this feature will get, as I know there are a lot of apps out there doing similar things, but it's always nice to see Gmaps improving.
